Potpourri Stitchers
Daytime Quilters and Smockers meet together monthly the 3rd Tuesday from 10:00 a.m. to approx. 2:00 p.m.
This group was started many years ago for members interested in smocking and quilting. Meetings were held in members' homes because of the need for sewing machines and because in the Guild's early years many meetings were held in homes. The group has evolved beyond its original needlework mission, but has continued the tradition of meeting in members' homes (but you are not obligated to host) . Projects have expanded to an eclectic mix of the old and new in needlework: past projects have included smocked jewelry, a crazy quilt inspired sewing pocket, stumpwork, ribbon embroidery, wool applique, wool felting, fractured fabric and crewel. We are open to traditional projects and exploring new techniques. Please join us--participate in the group project or bring your own project and enjoy stitching with friends. We meet from 10AM--2PM (if you come late or leave early that is OK)--the hostess provides coffee/tea and dessert, bring your own lunch. Contact the hostess for directions to her home--looking forward to stitching with you!

We are starting a pulled thread study and will learn two pulled thread stitches each meeting. The project will be of your own choosing and can range from doodle cloth to tablecloth size. Or maybe you would like to make a small pulled thread reference book. The choice is limited only by your imagination.
Bring even weave linen fabric for your project and #8 pearl cotton, tapestry needle and your regular stitching supplies. We will explain the 4-sided stitch and it's application to finish a hem. The next stitches to be learned will be decided at this meeting.
