Upcoming

January 24, 2012

For January's Daytime Stitch-in we will start a series of sessions on Crazy Quilting.  This first meeting will cover the history of crazy quilting.  We will also review books on crazy quilting, and discuss the variety of fabrics and fibers we can use to make them.  Bring any books you have on the subject and also any examples/pieces of crazy quilts you have.  In February we will start construction of our crazy quilt piece.

February 28, 2012

Crazy Quilting: This will be our second session.  In January we talked about the history of crazy quilting and discussed the types of fabrics and fibers that can be used to make crazy quilts.  This month we will assemble our chosen fabrics into our quilt block.  We will be making an 8 inch square block.  Bring your fabrics, scissors, sewing threads, sharp needles.  Bring a portable sewing machine and cords if you have one.

March 27, 2012

Crazy Quilting: We will start our seam embellishment.  Bring your quilt block, a stitching doodle cloth, a washable quilt marker pencil, stitching fibers of your choice and color, stitching tools including sharp needles.  We will learn the following stitches for our first seam embellishment:  buttonhole, lazy daisy, and french knot.
